Our Work In Practice
Every campus comes to us with a different history, culture, and set of challenges. The examples below reflect how B. Education Strategies partners with institutions during moments of transition, tension, and opportunity offering restorative support, strategic planning, values clarification, and leadership coaching tailored to the real context leaders are navigating.
Executive Coaching During Reorganization and Budget Realignment
The Context
A senior cabinet member, new to role, was leading a complex divisional reorganization while navigating a high-stakes budget process.
The Work
Over eight months, B. Education provided bi-weekly executive coaching focused on six key leadership challenges, including crisis management, budget realignment, team development, and board presence and influence.
The Impact
The leader successfully realigned budgets and structures across six departments and more than 60 staff, presented a new strategic plan to the board with strong support, and reported renewed clarity, confidence, and commitment to sustainable leadership.
Restoring Trust Through Leadership Transition
The Context
A campus experienced significant senior leadership transition that left staff feeling mistrustful, exhausted, and uncertain about the future. Morale was low, and leaders were concerned about further disengagement and turnover.
The Work
B. Education partnered quickly with leaders and staff across the institution through interviews and focus groups. We then designed a two-day restorative experience to rebuild trust, acknowledge loss, and support planning for the leadership transition. Following the appointment of a new senior leader, we provided executive coaching grounded in what we had learned through the process.
The Impact
The new leader entered with clarity about where to focus attention and how to rebuild trust early. Staff reported feeling seen, cared for, and reconnected to their work and mission. The campus stabilized during a vulnerable moment and avoided further erosion of trust.
Values Clarification and Strategic Alignment
The Context
A student affairs senior leadership team sought greater clarity and alignment, recognizing that existing values statements did not reflect lived experience.
The Work
Over one year, B. Education led a creative, inclusive process to surface core values as experienced by students, faculty, and staff. We partnered with the team to articulate a shared statement of identity and facilitated a two-day, full-staff leadership experience aligned with divisional priorities for the next three years.
The Impact
The division gained clearer purpose, stronger alignment, and shared ownership of direction. Staff reported greater connection between values and daily work, and leaders gained a durable framework to guide decisions and culture moving forward.
Student and Family Advocacy Through Transition and Re-Entry
The Context
A student was removed from campus after their first semester of college following a difficult transition marked by significant personal and mental health challenges. The experience left the student discouraged and the family unsure how to move forward or advocate effectively.
The Work
B. Education partnered with the student and their parent to support understanding, communication, and planning for a more successful return to college after a semester away. The student engaged in weekly coaching sessions that included reflection exercises, inventories, and guided conversations to rediscover their purpose for attending college, identify where the initial transition broke down, and clarify the supports needed to succeed.
We worked closely with the student and family to identify target institutions, navigate the admissions process, and prepare for re-entry. Coaching continued after matriculation during the first semester.
The Impact
The student returned to college with clearer goals, stronger self-awareness, and appropriate support structures in place. The family felt better aligned and equipped to provide support, and the student completed the first semester at the new institution with increased confidence, stability, and momentum.
Building a Restorative Culture Before Crisis
The Context
A sitting VPSA recognized that the years ahead would likely bring disruption and wanted the division to be prepared rather than reactive.
The Work
The institution committed to an 18-month RestorED engagement that included restorative facilitator training for staff, leadership development for student leaders, and a deep review of departmental practices, rituals, and traditions. Together, we built a shared restorative framework for addressing harm, strengthening belonging, and navigating campus concerns.
The Impact
Staff and students developed a common language for community and repair. Two new campus traditions emerged, and restorative practices were integrated into residence life, student conduct, orientation, and identity and well-being programs—creating a more connected and resilient campus culture.
Restorative Response to a Campus Bias Incident
The Context
Following a highly visible public bias incident involving a student organization, campus leadership faced significant challenges. Harm had occurred between student groups and individuals directly involved, while the broader campus community—students, faculty, and staff—was also struggling to process what had happened and what it meant for the institution.
The Work
B. Education partnered with university leadership to design a multi-layered restorative response. We facilitated restorative processes between the student groups directly involved, as well as with individuals and groups secondarily impacted by the incident. At the same time, we structured and facilitated campus-wide restorative dialogue sessions to support collective processing and healing.
We also convened facilitated dialogues between senior university leaders and student leaders focused on accountability, prevention, and rebuilding trust.
The Impact
As a result of this work, campus leaders implemented targeted policy adjustments, increased training for administrators responding to identity-based incidents, and launched new initiatives to support ongoing dialogue and community connection. The campus was able to move from crisis response toward healing, learning, and stronger institutional readiness for future challenges.
